Data Rebuilding and replacing live file
Hi Team, we use reckon Hosted , shared by 20 Users ,
I am needing to Rebuild the file due to a constant error message and replace the current live file
Due to the size of the file( 1.9GB ) I have to download QBW ( portable copy ) file and locally rebuild it in desktop( i have purchased desktop version )
question ( 1) is it advisable to rebuilt data using QBW portable copy ?
if ok, question (2) how to upload local data file to Q drive and to and replace old shared folder ?
Do i need to remove the excising data file before replacement of rebuilt data .
How the file sharing works ? does in require resharing the files ?
if the current shared file name is ABC do i need to use the same name for rebuilt data file
Thanks Eveny one

Hi @prasanna
Yes, you're good to go ahead and restore the portable file and continue working on it.

Hi Prasanna,
For such a large file, it is a better option to do the rebuild locally using the Reckon Accounts Enterprise desktop software.
- Ensure all users are logged off the data file except for the Admin username then switch to Single-User mode
- Download the original current QBW file from the Hosted shared folder to your local computer.
- Rename the file that original current file on the Hosted shared folder so that no one accidentally makes use of it. (Add a prefix like "ORIGINAL DAMAGED - " to the existing file name)
- This support article will be useful to understand how to upload / download / rename data files: Using the My Files tool in the New Hosted Platform: Upload, Download, and Search Guide - Reckon Help and Support Centre
- If you return the reconstructed file after it has been rebuilt back to the same shared folder and keep its existing data file name, then there is no need to re-share the file. It is only necessary to re-share if the name of the data file has changed and/or it has been uploaded to a different folder and not the original shared folder

As a Reckon Hosted user you are entitled to a free desktop version of Reckon Enterprise for exactly this purpose, or it used to be.
