Reckon Payroll - Multiple Pay Periods for Annual Leave Tax Calculation?

Hi guys,

With annual leave coming up, I have a query regarding paying employees for multiple pays on their last day. In Payroll Premier you could always adjust the number of pay periods so the employee was not taxed based on one weeks' earnings. If he was taking 3 weeks annual leave, then you could enter the number of pay periods as "3" to reduce the tax over 3 pay periods. Is there a facility within Reckon Payroll to enable this to occur? Please Refer to screenshot below...

Just jumping back on this to give you another update and I'm super happy to let you know this is now available in Reckon One!

With Reckon One payroll's latest upgrade to pay runs (check it out here) you can now designate the number of pay periods within a pay run for your PAYG tax calculation. The tax amount will automatically calculate and update based on the number of periods specified.

In the example below (click on it for a larger view), you'll see I change the employee's earnings from their standard 38 to 76 hours and then specify the taxable pay periods to 2. The tax calculation automatically recalculates based on the number of periods specified.

Please note: You will need to use the new pay run creation experience to use this feature, simply click the Check out the New Pay Run Experience link the appears in the message when you next create a pay run.

Building this feature for Reckon Payroll is certainly still on the cards for us, however we've got a range of projects both on the go right now and planned over the next few months. To be transparent in terms of expectations, its likely to be around the second half of next year at this stage.

Well, this is most unfortunate to hear this feature is not a priority and not likely to be implemented until the second half of next year. :(

I think it is a vital aspect of payroll in terms of paying in advance for annual leave. It would cut down time spent entering details.

Hi folks,

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to be the Grinch on this occasion but I wanted to be upfront with you in terms of timeframes on this one.

In order to deliver this idea/feature for paying multiple pay periods we need to roll out a pretty significant upgrade to the payrun creation screen in Reckon One first. We're pretty close on the work for this upgrade but in looking at the remaining tasks, unfortunately its not going to make it before code cut-off prior to the Christmas/New Year holiday break.

Long story short, this idea is definitely on the way but it will be early in the new year in terms of timing.

Apologies, I know a few of you were looking forward to it for the Xmas period so I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I'll keep you updated along the way with more info as we make progress on this.

Hi Rav,

So good to have this, thank you. My only comment is that I've noticed that only whole numbers can be entered in for the pay periods. In Payroll Premier it was possible to enter in fractions of the pay period such as 1.2 weeks, 1.4 weeks etc. So if an employee is being paid for 7 days annual leave it would be entered in as 1.4 weeks (5+2 days).
