Did you move the program or the data files? If only the data moved then open the program and then use file open menus to open your data from where you stored them

Thanks Gary, but it's my desktop shortcut that I want to redirect , it now takes me to the new user screen (where I then navigate to my file). Any other clues?

    Ada m.

Desktop shortcut icons can be created by you,  that point to one of two things:  Programs or DATA.

When you have a shortcut that points to DATA,  the Operating System will CALL UP the related program first, and load the DATA into it,  and this 2-step process happens so faats you thik it is one step.

    SO:
Provided it is a SHORTCUT ICON (one that has a small pointing arrow as part of the ICON (and it's properties show you it is in fact a SHORTCUT),  then push the troublesome one away to one side (rather than delete it if you're not following what I say here).  IN fact rename the troublesome one to something like  "OLD......."   leaving the rest of the old name as the "....".

Create a new shortcut to the DATA file.   Find your data file (you said you shifted it somewhere).  So use Windows Explorer to find the disk drive, and sub-sub-folder until you can see the DATA FILE.  Then do a RIGHT-MOUSE-CLICK on that DATA FILE and holding the mouse down, drag a shortcut to your desktop area and let go.  Of the sub-menu choices presented,  left-click on MAKE A SHORTCUT.  (IE:  don't move, copy or delete it!).

    Voila!

Hey thanks Gary, new shortcut opens to Welcome Screen - New user or Already user, choose Already user and opens to Select Your Data File screen - navigate to data file.
But how do I open the data file with a double click on the shortcut (it used work until I move the data file)?
    Thanks

The 'shortcut' you've made from my last suggestions,  needs to be a shortcut to the DATA file that you're otherwise opening with the extra tedious steps.  Make sure you made a shortcut to the main DATA file.  IE:   make sure it is a shortcut to the  xxxxx.QDF main data file.

(NOTE:  there are some sister files like  HCX, IDX,  QPH  and QEL files - NOT them)

You may have an icon on the desktop that was a shortcut to the PROGRAM.  And when the program starts, it always goes to the last opened DATA file anyway.  But in your case, you MOVED that data file,  so, the old icon, or any icon that points to the PROGRAM (rather than to the data),  will only open the PROGRAM, at which point it still doesn't know where your DATA is.

Hence why I suggest you avoid all that approach, buy having a shortcut that goes STRAIGHT to the DATA file (which will call up the underlying pre-requisite program as part of that 'double-click').  Hopefully that is a clearer explanation.
