Reckon Accounts Register shortcut keys not functioning - plus + minus - Month forward and back

Using Reckon Personal Plus 2016 and Reckon Accounts Home and Business on Windows 10 I find the keyboard shortcuts that simplify entering dates in a Register are no longer functioning. Keys like plus, minus, H (month forward), M (month backward) etc are not operating. When I click the minus key the cursor cycles through day -> month -> year -> day etc. The expected behaviour is that the date would step backwards in time. No errors are displayed. I've tested on different keyboards and on virtual keyboard and none have functioned as advertised. Any advice please is most welcome as I'm about to launch into my semi-annual data entry and no shortcuts is problematic Cheers Greg

    Hi Greg,

I saw your post and not sure what I can do to assist as all these 'shortcuts' work fine for me except the CTRL-SHIFT-g option.

I am using Reckon Personal Plus 2016 Release R1.

My keyboard settings in Win10 (with anniversary update) is English (Australia) US keyboard.

    Same as yours?

    Did the shortcuts ever work?

    Andrew

Hi Andrew, Thanks for pointing out some things to check - I hadn't thought to check both language and keyboard. I'm now just testing changes to both and a few reboots before I report back. Has all worked in the past - but not with this new hardware Dell XPS with dasKeyboard). Greg

Hi Andrew. I've removed all hardware and stlll Dell XPS keybaord is not sending plus/minus etc. shortcuts to the Registers so it's not a conflicting hardware (keyboard). I think it may be a compatibility problem with XPS minimal keyboard. Perhaps external keyboard is not sending the correct signal. Onscreen touch keyboard produces the same result so I think I might be out of luck. Bummer. I do hope Reckon tests against these new Touch laptops with minimal keyboards...it's the future. Greg.

Hi Greg, I turned on the Windows on-screen keyboard (settings > ease of access) and this works with the program. As I am using a non touch monitor I had to use the mouse to select but it appeared to work ok.

Thanks Andrew. I've tried pretty much everything I can think of. Fortunately, I have an old PC on my network so I'll have to go (back) to that for now. Thanks for all your ideas and tips. I'll post a followup if I have any success. Cheers Greg

SOLVED: Turns out the date format I've selected in my Win 10 regionalization is the problem. I configured regionalization in my new PC to use the dd-mmm-yy. Turns out Reckon Accounts does not recognize the + nor - keyboard shortcuts when this date format is chosen. I changed to dd-mm-yy and the problem was resolved...trap for young players. I suggest Reckon should consider this a bug and make an upgrade. All the best Greg

Ahah! You have jogged my memory, I do remember having issues with the incorrect date format sometime back. Glad all is well. Also another tidbit for filing away. Re your last sentence - I could fly to the moon more easily.

    Dear Trev,
I am using Windows 10 (with anniversary update) AND PP 2017. In W10 I have the short date options ranging from d/MM/yyyy to dd-MMMM-yyyy, 8 in all plus of course an additional 3 yankee date options. Did you open the 'region' settings from the Control Panel? My 'format' is set to English (Australian). The English (UK) format short date options range is smaller. What 'format' do you have set. Also +/- works just fine in the register so no bug here.
    regards
    Andy
