2017 Reckon has stopped working. Requiring 2016 installation key

I've been using Reckon Accounts Personal Plus 2017 for a couple of months. Today my licence expired and Reckon s asking for an activation update even though I have already registered the installation key for 2017 as shown on my receipt for 2017. When I go online to re-register it's looking for me to pay my 2016 licence as well. I did receive an invoice for 2016 as well as 2017 and when I rang they said to ignore the 2016 invoice - there would be no consequences! Of course, it has to be the weekend doesn't it - and the weekend when I wanted to finish my tax return. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Dave and Kevin. System won't let me do anything without paying the invoice which I've contemplated doing but then the thought of negotiating a reimbursement too overwhelming. Yes, I have uninstalled 2016.
