i am currently with Payroll Premier.  Noticed that there is also Reckon One payroll, and the price is a fraction of what i pay for Payroll premier.  Would like to know if anyone knows what is the difference between these 2?  I dont need a complicated system, and if Reckon One is good enough, i would like to change to that ($600++ vs less than $100 per month) ....

I totally agree, and one of my clients changed over at the beginning of the financial year for exactly that reason. She started a new file in Reckon One, and I’m yet to find out if the data can be exported and imported into Reckon One. Definitely worth saving over $500, as it’s only $5 per month

    Hi E-Lan & Kris,
As you know, Payroll Premier is a standalone program that specialises and only performs payroll tasks & activities. Its a more established but offline/desktop based software.

Reckon One Payroll is similar in the sense that it performs everything payroll however its completely separate as its a full cloud service and has a very different look and feel. Reckon One Payroll allows you to manage wages, leae, super and is fully Single Touch Payroll compliant and will take care of your submissions.

My advice to you, would be take up the free 30 day trial and play with the features & functions as much as you can to make sure it works for you along with making sure it has everything you need. It will feel very different from the more traditional product but the workflow is designed to be really simple.

Kris, in terms of making the jump from Payroll Premier to Reckon One, data is migrated through the Data Migration service. Reckon One can only import Chart of Accounts at this stage.

So this is something Reckon does? Is there a fee?

Is it a set fee, and if so can you tell me how much?

The fee will depend on the volume of data being migrated.
Once you provide the migration team with your requirements with regard to the data to be migrated and you provide the data file, then they can provide quote options.
You can request a case via the Data Migration service web form.

The fee we were quoted from the data migration team was for $4000.00- $6000 for just 10 employees.

Hi @Meagan were you wanting to migrate each individual pay cheque for a period of multiple years?

How many individual pay cheques are in that period you are wanting to migrate?

If you were to keep your historical data in your original payroll software and only migrate to Reckon One, the employee details (names, addresses) and their payroll set for pay rates, leave, etc along with closing YTD pays, the migration fee should be much less.

Thank you for your very quick reply , wanting to migrate last 7 years over from payroll premier to "Reckon One" but the cost was just way too much. Looking at Reckon One system but still awaiting on response from your team.

Recommend that you only migrate Employee details and YTD pays as at the time you are migrating.

Keep the historical data in the old system (print out reports and pay cheques to paper or print to PDF documents).

Process the new pay runs in the Reckon One and do the reporting from the next pay run onwards in Reckon One.

The cost to recreate each individual pay cheque from the old system into the Reckon One would be very time intensive and hence the high cost.
