Migrating files from Reckon Accounts Desktop and Reckon Hosted to Reckon One

I have been set up in Reckon One by a Reckon Tech in readiness to taking all my clients' files from those two accounts across. I have been pointed to the MMC Convert screen which is offering free migration for the previous year plus up to date data. And that is a great offer!

I have about 15 clients files to migrate. When I clicked on the area with MMC to start an upload there is only room for 1 file. Which is fine, I didn't expect to be able to list the whole lot at once!

My question is:

Will all 15 files be free or is there a better way for me to do this? I feel that I am asking too much to get them all for free but when I looked at the MMC packages, I will be way out of pocket if I need to pay for all 15. And my clients won't want to reimburse me as it's my decision to make the software changes.

I have previously backed up files onto a USB from desktop and uploaded from there into Hosted. Am I able to still do the uploads this way? I am going to have a practice run on one of the seldom used files to see if that works, only I can't see an 'upload' button anywhere in Reckon One. There a lot of places to look and sometimes I get lost on the way back.

Cheers. Cheryl

    Hi @Cheryl Medley

You do not upload your file to Reckon One.

You will need to go through the MMC Convert process separately for each client file.

You will need to treat each client file as a separate migration.

Each file can be covered for the free migration option, or you can choose to include more data to be migrated and pay the corresponding fee.

I realise I will need to do each file separately, and advice from my man who set me up in Reckon One is that I can do this myself. He replied after I'd sent this question to here - not with instructions, he just said it would be best for me to do it myself.

Will MMC Convert do the processing on each file for free? After looking at their profile, I doubt they will do that many without charge.

I'm starting to think I've gone the wrong way with this decision. I can get a really good deal with QuickBooks, but thought I was doing the right thing by staying with Reckon as I have been here for many years and I prefer the set up.

I didn't believe that I would get 15 accounts/files migrated for free! But now that you have assured me that it will be so, I will make contact with MMC and let them figure it from there. Thank you.

    Hi Cheryl

Can I just confirm, are you looking to migrate to Reckon One as part of the upgrade to Reckon Payroll?

I can see that you've mentioned Reckon Accounts Hosted & Reckon Accounts Desktop in your opening post but can I just confirm that is the case, and not Payroll Premier instead?

The reason I ask is, for the Payroll Premier upgrade to Reckon Payroll that we're currently undertaking with the customers of that product, we will upgrade your Payroll Premier data to Reckon Payroll (and its companion Reckon One book) for you in your booking with our specialist team.

Before you go down the path of migration, I think we need to just get everything straightened out in terms of your requirements and expectations (on both sides) so there aren't any surprises or hiccups throughout the process.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everyone! 🎅🎆

I'm on leave from 23 December and back on deck again January 6th.

If you're working through the holiday period, we've got support available and you'll find our holiday hoursHERE.

Hiya, Rav. No. The Payroll Premier has been upgraded and files migrated to Reckon Payroll by the team and I have successfully completed last week's payrolls, even doing the STP2 report properly.

The team have also set me up with my bookkeeping clients in Reckon One as apparently I haven't been following rules properly!!! My issue now is migrating those clients from Reckon Accounts Desktop and Reckon Hosted. I have clients in both camps.

My (new) accountant boss is a keen QuickBooks and Xero user and would like me to transfer my clients to QB. None of them are big, so they won't need Xero. At this stage anyway! I have a couple of clients who have their own Xero account which I do the book keeping through and I do like it, but it's expensive. My clients are all border line with their profit margin so I am trying to keep things as inexpensive as I can for them.

Does that clear the muddy waters?

I am replying to the request from Reckon Staff on 21 November re my dealings with MMC Convert.

It turned out to be extremely easy! I googled MMC Convert, found the order button, clicked on Reckon and up came the 'free' offer.

I then just followed the prompts. I saved each of my files in Hosted and Accounts desktop to their relevant places and one by one downloaded them to the MMC box. I received a confirmation e-mail for each, thanking me for trusting them. Then I received another one (each) asking to tick the 'user' box in set up on each account, tick 'admin' and put the e-mail address in that they supplied. They sent a picture with instructions on what to do there.

Today is a thank you e-mail (for each) for being prompt with their request and they will get back to me later with information on the transfers.

I think it would be a good idea if Reckon did up a step by step guide for people who need to have help in transferring/migrating files. It would take the scariness (or am I the only one initially filled with trepidation?) out of the procedure.

MMC actually look after a lot of software - possibly the whole lot! they have a box for 'other' - but you all probably know this already, but for me it was a brand new experience. I have always done my own uploading previously and since I didn't know how this was going to work, I was nervous. When one looks at what MMC offers on their website, it is really quite expensive. With the subsidies from Reckon, of course, it takes that cost away. Just if one needs more than the previous financial year to date, it could add up to lots then.

When I am able to work with my clients account in Reckon One, I will try and put earlier figures in so that the accountants have comparison reports and clients can go back the years to get old records.

    Cheers. Cheryl
