Issues opening and using Accounts plus 2022
I’m experiencing issues opening and using Accounts plus 2022.
I open the program and it allows me to enter my password. After this point I cannot do anything. I cannot change screens, nor access any menus. It literally freezes at this point. I’m so frustrated.
I have rebooted and reinstalled. Nothing has resolved this issue.
thanks

Hi @Jellybean
Does this occur if you attempt to open a different file than the one you are currently? eg. a backup file
When is the last time you were able to open this particular file successfully?
After you enter the file password, are there any prompts or windows within the software that allow you to bring up?
Have you had a chat with our technical support team as yet? If so, what have they advised so far?

Hi
I haven’t tried opening a backup. I am seeing nothing different when attempting to open.
I haven’t tried tech support yet. When I posted this I was going to be away from my desk for an day..

Ok. Cannot open any backup as my program always opens my company file. I no longer have the option to open a backup

When you see the login screen that asks for a username and password, press the Cancel button.
There you will see the "No Company Open" screen, where you have the option to open a different file or restore a backup file

@Jellybean Are you trying to "Open" or "Restore" a Backup ?
Backup files can only be accessed by restoring so make sure you're selecting that option.

hello and thanks for the responses.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling and can either open my company file which causes it to lock up, or i can create a new company file and by the time you get through the questions and it sets up it does the same thing (I did this as a test)
i have also tried a factory reset on my laptop, and then i have installed norton antivirus. this i did this today. and today i was able to although somewhat temporarily get into the one screen i needed info from and could screen shot what i needed. Good thing I did as I am back in the same position I was in when things all went pear shaped.
What I can say I have managed to figure out it seems that either a norton or microsoft update has disable my ability to use Reckon accounts. So as far as I can see I need to find out what setting I need to change to allow it to work again.

Try uninstalling it completely & reinstalling - You need to make sure you disable your antivirus during installation as some prevent certain files installing 😬
Unfortunately, you may need to call Reckon for a new IKC if it’s a single license version.
(Hosted is much simpler as there’s no installing required)

uninstalled and reinstalled (firewall and antivirus off)
situation not changed
will have to ring reckon to find a solution
what is the difference with an installation on a laptop with a single user licence and hosted?

Hosted is online and you don’t have to install any software, you logon using a web browser. You can also access from any computer. But it is more expensive I think, not up to date with current prices

@Jellybean Hosted is exactly the same program but the top version with ALL available features.
The most basic desktop version is Accounting (no payroll) & is currently $615 p/yr, Plus is the next one up (& includes Payroll) at $ 730 p/yr, then Premier for up to 5 simultaneous users at $ 880 p/user p/yr & finally Enterprise which can accommodate up to 30 simultaneous users at the now reduced price of also $ 880 p/user p/yr.
Hosted is the Enterprise version & is $ 850 p/user p/yr. Hosted is also the only one that also has a monthly payment option ($ 73 p/mth).
All the versions look exactly the same so no new learning required from what you’re already doing. The higher versions just have more, additional options in the dropdown menus, should you want to use them.
It is “Hosted” on Reckon’s servers (hence the name) & is therefore accessible anytime, from any device, via any web browser. Reckon maintains it so there’s no installing or updates required by users.
Hosted is by far the most popular these days due to it being the top version, the most convenient & also the only one payable monthly ☺️
On the website, it’s promoted as being for “large” businesses simply due to its full suite of features, convenience & number of consecutive users ability however I have a number of sole traders on it, including some who don’t even have employees.
You can find more info on it here:
