Reckon Accounts plus 2024 will not save backups automatically on close

I have recently upgraded to Reckon Accounts plus 2024 and for some reason the normal settings I have entered for previous versions do not save and my company file does not automatically back up on close. I have followed similar threads and logged in as an administrator and it now keeps the file path, however will not seem to perform the automatic back up on close option. Any advice?

    Morning @maranoalocksmiths,

If you click on the options, Can you see the location to save the file? Can you ensure that you don't exceed the number of save on-demand backup copies?

    Hope this helps,

    Nick

    Hi Nick

Thank you for responding. Yes I can see the location of where I save the file. I have removed all backup copies to an alternative location and tried again. It did not work - it does not seem to save the changes when selecting to save a back up copy every 1 time. I am always logged in as administrator so that doesn't seem to make a difference. Any other ideas :)

    Hi @maranoalocksmiths,

Can you please try change the save a back up copy every 1 time to 2 times instead and change the save location to somewhere else.

Please let me know how it goes?

    Thank you,

    Nick

    Hi Nick

I changed the option to every two times and the location of where the back ups are saved. Closed Reckon and then logged back in - checked the settings and the new file location wasn't saved neither was the option of every two times. It seems that nothing in this window seems to save as a default when set.

    Thanks

    Sam

    Hi @MG_9499559 ,

To ensure the successful creation of automatic backups, it is essential to run Reckon Accounts with high permissions.

This means you need to run the software as an Administrator. Running as an administrator is necessary because it grant the software the required access to system resources and files, which are often restricted under standard user permissions. Running Reckon Accounts as an Administrator helps prevent potential issues related to insufficient access rights, ensuring that the backup process can proceed smoothly and without interruptions.

So, run the software as an administrator and save the auto backup setup and it should work smoothly.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Reeta

    Hi @MG_9499559

Hmmmm…., one of the company files is saving the location properly while the other one isn't. Could you please try renaming the company file to something simple, without any spaces or special characters?

    @MG_9499559,

Could you please provide a bit more detail for me to understand the situation better. Which location are you looking to back up to?

    Hi @MG_9499559,

I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing. I am unable to replicate the issue on my end, as the auto backup is functioning as expected.

If you are still encountering difficulties, could you please consider the following suggestions?

    1. Change the destination folder.
    2. Navigate to the destination folder and verify the completion status of the backup.
    3. Restart the computer to ensure that any background services or files that may be in use are terminated, which could potentially resolve the failure.
    4. Uninstall and subsequently reinstall Reckon Accounts to address any issues that may have arisen from a faulty installation.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Reeta
