Hi, we are an accounting firm that supports those of our clients using Reckon Accounts, so we are familiar with the software, but we've had a potential client approach us regarding their desktop Reckon Accounts Plus 2018 software. They are approaching retirement and upgrading isn't an option. How would we handle their data? Can we still download this software and restore a backup of their file? Then we send a backup back to them from our file? Currently they physically take their old desktop computer to their accountant.

Thanks for any help our community can offer.

    Hi @Tanya Briggs

If you’re using Reckon Accounts 2024, you can still open data files from 2018, as each version can access files from previous years.

However, a challenge arises if your client wants the file returned, since older software cannot open files from newer versions. If your client wants access the file after you've worked on it, you'll also need to use the 2018 version of Reckon Accounts.
