Hi,every time i open employee centre it shuts the program down

every time i try open employee centre it shuts the program down. i've tried restarting program & computer also data rebuild. not sure what t o do

    Hi @lou

    Sounds like there's some data corruption in your Employee Centre

    Do you Verify … your company file regularly ? I'd recommend doing this & running the Rebuild Data 3 times. (For some reason, THREE rebuilds fixes a lot of corruption issues !) 😊

    These tools are under the File dropdown menu > Utilities :

    Hi @lou

    What did you do to resolve the issue back in May 2023?

    Do you have multiple usernames that you can use to login to the data file?

    If you have, then try logging in as a different username to confirm whether the problem affects all usernames or just specific ones.

    If it affects all usernames and/or the rebuild data and verify data function as described by @Acctd4 does not resolve it, let us know.

    Same thing happens to me. I just assumed it's a bug. Doesn't happen all the time mind you. And not in every file. It's frustrating

    Is there a specific error message that appears after you attempt to access the Employee Centre?

    Are you attempting to access it from the icon bar at the top or the Employees menu?

    Is there a difference at all in either option?


    Do you have a recent backup of your file? If so, does the same issue occur on that as well?

    Hi rav

    a window pops up error has occurred and program will close

    it does it from either option icon or menu

    I’ve tried different browser

    I haven’t tried from a back up copy but it was doing it before I backed it up

    i’m out of office now but I can take a pic of the message that comes up later today

    i have encountered this problem again.when i open the employee centre it shuts down ,doesn't matter where i open centre from

    If you can perform the verify you can open the qbwin log file in word pad which may provide some insight into the corruption issue that is causing the problem. The reckon tech staff are not every good at dealing with these issues so my considered recommendation is to reach out to one of the Accredited Partners like I.

    We are helping people like you to solve these problems with a minimum of down time in the most efficient way possible.

    Often times tech support will tell you to restore a backup when it isnt necessary and may even put you back even further.

    Restoring a backup is only one of the options that would be provided.

    As to whether it is necessary will depend on the nature of the problem.

    Hi All i seem to encountered this problem again.when i try open employee centre little blue wheel spins and now screen blacks out,i have to log out and log back in. i have noticed when i try to very data it gets to about 57% and then message countered a problem comes up.it has been working fine when i replaced computer a few months ago now its been happening a few days. its getting frustrating now as its delaying my work and putting me behind.

    You need to do a verify and rebuild of your file

    Call me if it gets too hard

    I can interrogate the log file and isolate the error

    ill try again but when i try to verify it gets halfway and then message comes up encountered a problem and can't verify. ill try again if not what hours are you available tomorrow as I'm working in the morning

    Hi All

    still having issues opening employee centre it blacks out. i've tried rebuilding data and verifying multiple times with no luck it's now getting frustrating. i am using mac if that makes a difference.

    i'm now that far behind it's costing me

    My dad would be happy to hear that. It was a interesting issue. Im not even sure what we did to fix it after all our tinkering.

    Did I mention backups?

    Hosted is NOT backed up so you must back up after every session. And it's a good idea to copy those backups to external storage.
