Trying to lodge BAS but my IE too old for ATO.  I still have XP so can't get latest IE.  ATO said things will work with Firefox but whenever I press 'Lodge' it opens IE.  How can I tell Reckon 2015 to open Firefox and not IE?

Rik.,  In the settings of FIREFOX - make it your default browser.  That will make all programs call upon Firefox instead of your old IE browser, as default.

But consider if that is the behaviour you wish all programs on your PC/laptop to use.

    Gary?

Thanks for the prompt reply but I have already double-checked that and Firefox is already my default.
I have just tried using the address it loads into IE and loading into Firefox but it appears not to load the stylesheets.

Are you using Reckon Gov Connect to lodge your BAS?

    Thanks Nathan,
No, I am lodging via the portal.  Managed to it to use Firefox (change file open with setting for XML) however, still not loading stylesheet. Also tried Chrome & Safari.

Hi Rik, I would suggest trying Reckon Gov Connect as it does not depend on your browser.

Also you could try something like IE Tab which might assist you. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ie-tab-plus/?src=cb-dl-mostpopular

Thanks for your attempt Nathan but still no luck.
Gov Connect is only for Advantage members and I am not.
IE tab didn't make any difference (yes I did add the file to the site filter).

Things have gone from bad to worse.  IE does not work and Reckon won't load without it.  The message I get says there is IE6 on the Reckon disk (Business Range 2015) but there isn't.  No version of 6,7 or 8 that I've found on the web will install to my system.  I now cannot operate my business.

    Sorted !!! .. after 3 days of suck-it-and-see downloads, installs & reboots.

Info for anyone with XP or advising anyone with XP & IE8 who has trouble lodging BAS through the ATO portal (probably not many have such old systems).
The final solution seems to have been to download an old Java from their website archives. I used jre-7u21-windows-i586.exe but you may need to experiment. Don't know if this will affect other programs but we'll see.

Thanks to those who offered help

Good on you for sharing this back, Rik.  Old XP with outdated JAVA is being rejected for security, by many a secure processing site these days.   Glad you could get over your immediate issue,  but you need to consider moving forward with the demands of financial bodies like banks, and ATO portals and so forth, from these 2004 dated XP dependent system, I'm afraid.   There are too many hacks and security breaches of that technology in 2016, these days.

Its a tough call, I know,  and look at the saga that would have come from migrating to Vista,  and the first releases of non-PRO versions of Win7.... etc  etc....  .... fine in hindsight to realise worse fates,  I acknowledge.  but the JAVA aspect of that vintage is your potential killer here.

So,  in conclusion, here's yet another forum article that demonstrates that the system ENVIRONMENT is the cause of the user experience issue again,  and not the product per se.     With 330+ accredited partners throughout AUST/NZ availabe for handling these sort of queries immediately,  I'd like to outline where support of this nature can be obtained around the clock professionally if it is an urgent matter, and RECKON product is not the issue.

Consider the tips and support options outlined and all the APs that can assist on these matters, by referring to this summary:  http://www.alchester.com.au/reckon-accredited-partners-enhance-business-solutions/

I share this for any readers of this forum who seek immediate support on training, IT, environment support and integration product/software matters, in case viewed here in the future., and welcome any constructive feedback.
