Challenges with Upgrade Installations

I've been a Quickbooks/Reckon user for many years but brand new to Reckon Community. I've called Reckon 3 times over an issue they thought should solve quickly but it hasn't.

Is there any point my posting a quite complicated question here at weekend?

Have had computer upgraded since last working in Reckon and cannot locate the Program file.   All data is backed up.

I understand that until we have current version (2015) paid for and installed, no processing can be done.  But all I need to do immediately is to view all files already processed  (i.e. data input from bank statements for tax return purposes)

1.  First tried to install from 2014 CD.  Installation not successful.   Error message came up.
2.  Then tried to install from 2014 download link from Reckon (email).  Also not successful
3.  Third call with Reckon:  suggestion that I download Free Trial version of 2015 which would also give IT support.   Same again.  Installation not successful.   Without achieving installation I'm not entitled to IT support without paying $5 per minute.

When I spoke with Reckon, those who took my call were very helpful.  I described exactly what I was doing, they made suggestions, but all said, "that should work."

I know I need to give more detail for Community help.  Will provide it once I know how much detail you need.  Have screenshot programme but will need to go back over installation processes to be able to show the point where things go pear-shaped!

I'm feeling extremely frustrated.  But having looked at some of the Community postings, it seems I'm not alone in challenges around installing programme files.

Thanks.

Well let's start with some facts

    1.  What actual Reckon program are you referring to?  reckon Accounts 2014 perhaps?

    2.  What operating system are you running on the server (por primary PC) where the DATA files are stored.  Is is say:  Microsoft Server 2012?  Or perhaps a smaller operation of just a workstation running Win & Pro 64-bit perhaps?  (Use the properties of 'My Computer" to tell us)

    3.  In all this exercise,  did you upgrade any other part of your network or your opertaing system?    You mentioned an 'upgrade'  but didn't tell us whether that was a hardware change or an operating system upgrade or perhaps just an upoerating system patch/service pack change..

    4.  You say you can't view "....all files already processed"  -  are you saying you cannot find the DATABASE files (ie:  for Reckon Accounts, these are called  xxxx.QBW files - and you can use your operating system to search where you placed them on your hard drive(s).

Anyway get the ball rolling with some of this basic information so we can ascertain if you are running end-user software as a business, or using personal software, or perhaps running Point of Sale, or running Professional Services as an  Accountant.....   there are dozens of Reckon products out there for different years and versions.

    Hi Gary,

Am in the process of collecting details to send to you.  Do you want me to have all contact via this medium, or will I be emailing you as well?   If the former, do I paste screenshots here?

    Thanks,

    Margot
