how do you enter US Shares

I am having trouble entering US shares into my Reckon Accounts Home & Business 2017 package. I can enter Australian shares without a problem.
As soon as I try to enter US shares the system refuses to cooperate.
Is there a set of instructions laying out the steps.
I have a NABTrade account that caters for the combination of exchanges but cannot get it to work in Reckon.

Bill you need to set up an Investment account denominated in USD, then you can download US stock prices.

If you want to include them in your Australian Portfolio, you need to create a phantom stock, say "GE - $A", then manually calculate the A$ value - I do it once a week.

Does that help?  If not come back.

Thanks - I have now been able to load the stock into the new account.
I will now work through the price download process.

That's good, Bill.  I use an Excel spreadsheet to keep a record of the USD and A$ price for each stock held each week, using the RBA's rate, as per http://www.rba.gov.au/statistics/frequency/exchange-rates.html for both stock prices and dividends booked.
