I have Reckon Accounts Accounting 2013 with a datafile (QBW) size of 10mb. When I backup, the backup (QBB) size is 240mb. Anyone know how to fix this??

    Hi Earl,

    Welcome to the Reckon Community.

It sounds like there is a corruption in your company file.

Please resort all your lists and then rebuild and verify your company file (you will be forced to make a backup).  While the verify reports that errors were found, repeat the cycle of rebuild and verify.

If the verify continually returns the same error then examine the QBWin.log file for more details and take the appropriate action.

For help on the Rebuild process see our guide at:
    http://library.reckon.com.au/library/pdf/QBi_Rebuilding_data_file.pdf

For specific errors identified in teh QBWin.log file, search our knowledgebase for a resolution:

Hope this gets your backup to a reasonable size. (for a 10MB file it should be around 5MB).

    regards,
    John

That fixed it thanks. BUT seriously, time you guys did 2 things, one, have a "resort all lists" button and most importantly, use a decent database engine, there's plenty out there, even Microsoft have a freebie that is damn near bullet proof. Get away from this 30 yr old technology that is constantly failing before someone else comes along and provides something decent. Remember My Space, the company that failed to innovate.

    Hi Earl,

Glad that's worked for you, and thanks for your feedback.

The idea of a "resort all lists" is a great one and I will forward that on to our developers.

Did you know that you can make suggestions directly from Accounts Business through the Help > Suggest new features option.  Our developers do take into consideration people's feedback here.

We are moving ahead with new products on new technologies and our new all-cloud product Reckon One was released recently.  Its still in the first stages of the product cycle, but over time it will grow into a fully featured accounting package.  You can keep in touch with developments by registering for email notifications of development at:  http://www.reckonone.com/modules.

Reckon remains committed to providing solutions for the desktop, hosted and cloud environments.

Thanks once again for your constructive feedback.

    John.
