I am using Reckon Accounts Home and Business 2016. I am trying to enter a share transaction in the Investment section. I am trying to reduce the number of shares held due to a share consolidation. I have tried "Remove - shares removed" but it says "You are trying to enter a short sale" and it asks me to select "short sale" but this is not what it is. It is a capital adjustment but there is no monetary gain, just reduction in share numbers.

Stock Split: enter a stock split or a reverse stock split.

Agree with Narky One, Tracy, but curious about your "short sale" message which implies you don't have sufficient holding in your Portfolio.

Also, be aware that doing a stock split can result in a non integer holding, such as x.99999.  If this happens you need to "Add" 0.00001 shares for zero value!
