Sending invoices from Reckon Accounts Easystart: First Business Edition 2014 with Microsoft Outlook 2013

When trying to send an invoice from Reckon Accounts Easystart: First Business Edition 2014, I see multiple error windows. Sometimes the message actually sends, and sometimes not, and sometimes it goes multiple times!

This is one of them:
"Server busy. Action cannot be completed because the invoice from blah blah blah pty ltd message plain text program is not responding. Choose 'switch to' and correct the..." [message cut off by the switch to and retry buttons]

I don't know why Reckon and Outlook don't play well together!

I am using Reckon Accounts Easystart: First Business Edition 2014 and Microsoft Outlook 2013, on Windows 8, and the email account I send from is a Gmail IMAP account, and it works just fine in Outlook itself.
