Superannuation guarantee not visible in pay run

While trying to create my first pay run, a so far horrific experience, I cannot seem to solve the following.

After filling in an employee and their monthly earnings no super guarantee item makes itself available.

In the employee profile all their super fund details have been filled in.
But not the funds bank details
And not an employer number as provided by the funds.

Since we pay super for our employees through the ATO small business super clearing house, I do not have an employer number with all but one of the various super funds.
And for the same reason I do not have the super funds bank details.

After many frustrating searches around the various Reckon help areas without an answer I decided to get creative.
I filled in the employer number for the only super fund we have actually registered with as an employer.
And also filled in a random number for that super funds bank account details.

Low and behold, the super guarantee for this particular employees super fund was visible.

So am I required to register as a employer with all the various superannuation funds of our employees so I can fill in this employer number in order for the superannuation due to become included in the pay run calculations?

Very frustrated by this whole STP ready requirement imposed on small busineses by the ATO.
We threat our lads well. They get lunched and clothed, tooled up and taken care off. We calculate and pay their assorted insurances, work cover, HECS depth and PAYG. And their super. Do we now also have to do the tax office's job?

Apologies, but....

Today I did ring one of the super funds to register with them as an employer in order to receive this coveted 'employer number'.

    Their advice was;
If the Super for the employees is paid through the ATO's SBSCH there is no need to register as an employer with the various super funds.

Ergo, there should be no need for the accounting software (Reckon One) to require an employer number.

Is this something someone in the Reckon One program writing are can have look at please.

    Hi Peter,

You are correct that by using a clearing house you do not need to register with the individual funds as a employer, however the employees do require member numbers from their super funds (this is the employee super number requested in Reckon products) so when the clearing house sends that money to the individual fund (including the ATO SBSCH) they are able to correctly distribute the funds. The employees would have provided this number to you on their Superchoice forms along with TFN declaration when starting employment with yourself.

If the employee took on the employers default super fund and did not choose to utilise superchoice, then their super statements should have the member number on them. Alternately, the employee should be able to call their super fund to find it out. However this number is required as part of the superstream system and clearing house system to be able to have the funds distributed correctly to each individual super fund.

The employees member number is not a problem.
Of course that needs to be provided.

It is the employers number that caused the system failure. It is not required information if payment is made through SBSCH.
In reckon One go to Payroll > Super funds > Superfund (=Tab 3) >employer number

I have since filled out the employer number field with NA and that was accepted by the system.
But there is no mention of this, that I could locate, in any of the on-line help made available by Reckon.
To work this out took a fair bit of time.
Provide a right-click-info mentioning this with this field?

    Hi Peter

Thank you for the clarification and feedback. Apologies that i misunderstood your first post.

The employer number is not a mandatory field as signified by the red dot not present against the filed. However we do take on the feedback that this is not as clear as it perhaps should be.

A tool tip next to the field is a good idea to explain what is for, and we will look at implementing one.

    Cheers

    Hi Simon

Yes, no red asterisk, that is why it took me so long to work out.

Maybe test this yourself, in Reckon One, but when I do not fill out that employer number field I end up with no superannuation being calculated in the pay run.

Thanks for your reply and time
