income account has GST code but why it is not calculating GST - please help what am i doing wrong

I am new to account hosted and just started but hit the wall as to why - my income account from my Chart of accounts has GST code but why it is not calculating GST - where as expense seems to work fine - please help what am i doing wrong

    Hi Angela, 

    GST is recorded on the transactions level, for example when doing a sales receipt or doing a customer invoice, you need to select the Tax code on individual lines to attract tax.  adding tax code to the account level do not record any tax.

    Hi Jay Jay, thanks for your reply, we are a retail store so we dont have cust invoice, its at the counter sales paid by cash or eftpos, so I am allocating from bank statement. I am entering it through record deposit tab. Please let  me know if there is another way to doing this

    As Jay advised you need to record income via a Tax Invoice or Sales Receipt the latter would be the best option for you.

    doing a sales receipt is the best option for retail shops.
