Enterprise job P&L incl employee time/cost from separate database

Hi Pauline
Am a little confused as to your question …
Are you job costing in your Reckon Accounts (RA) program or in your workshop program or both ?!
Any program’s reporting ability is only as good as the data entered into it so if you’re not utilising job-costing &/or tracking income & expenses in RA, it won’t be able to generate reports on those figures.
In RA, you can allocate jobs to sales (quotes/sales orders/sales receipts/invoices) as well as item purchases & expenses (purchase orders, cheques, credit card charges, bills)
Employee Timesheets & Pays in RA can also be allocated to Jobs once you have enabled the feature in your RA Company File Preferences (Edit – along top toolbar – then Preferences in dropdown menu):

Thanks Shaz, I already have job costing selected in both databases, which are literally miles apart so the jobs don't relate anyway (The payroll db doesn't have customers/jobs). The problem I'm trying to overcome is how the workshop office staff account for employees' time in that database when payroll is not set up as well as trying to account for each employee's time over a period.
We invoice clients from job cards which lists parts as well as employee times spent on each job, which sometimes can be considerable taking weeks. I have tried testing using timesheets - P&L for jobs/customer/employee - accrual bases. Nothing. The P&L shows the profit but not the expense. The only thing I can think of at present is to create Labour service item for each employee which would be cumbersome, as the customer only needs to see the total hours, or to break up the hours in a separate journal against the job after the invoice has been printed (I already jnl the total wage cost/liabilities processed weekly into the workshop database after each pay run). So to sum up, I'm trying to achieve 2 things in the workshop database:
1) Show the true P&L for each job during the whole process (from estimates right through) including the staff cost - from what I understand, even if payroll was through the workshop database, you wouldn't see anything until the wages were processed and invoices issued;
2) Track individual employee's times;
The main thing I love about Reckon is the level of reporting, hoping that we can get results here. I'm going round in circles and am hoping that I have a good case of "Can't see the trees for the forest"!
All help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hi Chandra, how do I contact you direct re this problem. I think its incredible that Reckon can't track in job P&Ls, employee rates which are a major cost. I've been advised from Reckon is that it can't be done. FYI, we are using the time sheets again.
If this can't be sorted, I am seriously considering looking for a program that will. Very disappointing.
