In fortnight 4 one of our employees went on dad leave for 2 weeks, do i need to report a stop before his 2 weeks unpaid leave and restart after?

Hi Joanne
That's only if the employee takes paid parental leave. If it’s unpaid then he is still eligible for continued JK.

Thanks Shaz,
He has instructed us to not pay him so he can claim dad leave payment from Service Australia, is he still meant to be paid Jobkeeper from us?0 -
Joanne, if claiming Services SA Dad's payment then no you can't pay JobKeeper at the same time:
See top of page 8
https://treasury.gov.au/sites/default/files/2020-04/JobKeeper_payment_frequently_asked_questions.pdf
I AM RECEIVING PARENTAL LEAVE PAY OR DAD AND PARTNER PAY THROUGH SERVICES AUSTRALIA. AM I ELIGIBLE? For the period that you are receiving Parental Leave Pay or Dad and Partner Pay then you will not be eligible for the JobKeeper Payment.

Ok thanks, i understand that now. But back to my 1st question do i need to report a stop and restart in the reckon accounts payroll run so that we don't end up being paid jobkeeper for those 2 weeks?0
-
Yes, if they are on Dad leave they are not eligible for JobKeeper for that whole fortnight. So it will depend when your fortnights fall in your payroll as to how many fortnights he will not receive JobKeeper with you for.
From the Treasury rules:
(4) An individual is excluded from being an eligible employee of an entity for a fortnight if:
(a) parental leave pay is payable to the individual and the individual’s PPL period overlaps with, or includes, the fortnight; or
(b) at any time during the fortnight, the individual is paid dad and partner pay;

I have the same question. I am paying someone Jobkeeper this pay but after this she starts maternity leave. Do I use the Jobkeeper topup item AND the finishFN03Item in this pay0
-
Depends what your actual pay date is Kris. You say you are paying JK topup this fortnight - what date are they actually paid?
If pay date is this week (16th to 24th) then that is already in FN04
So you are paying topup in FN04
If they start PPL anytime between now and 24/05, then they are not eligible for JK payment in FN04 - the finish must be FN04
If they start PPL after 24/05/20 then you can pay top up for FN04 and finish would be FN05 (the fortnight after)
JOBKEEPER-START-FN04 04 11/05/2020 - 24/05/2020
JOBKEEPER-START-FN05 05 25/05/2020 - 07/06/2020
Hope that makes sense?

The paydate is w/e 15th0

You say week ending 15th - but what date is the pay actually paid please Kris? It's vital that you work it all out on the date PAID. Does this correspond with when the employee actually started paid SSA PPL leave (or did they stop working during that pay period?
What date will the employee start getting PAID PPL from Services SA?
Please confirm they will not be on annual leave in between - they will go straight to paid SSA PPL from your pay.
All vital questions to answer your original question correctly.
Maybe answer these questions please:
Last date employee at paid work:
Date of your pays PAID DATE:
First date of paid SSA PPL:
Was there any paid annual leave:
If so dates on leave:
PAID DATE of paid leave if applicable:
Then I can answer correctly.0 -
Employee has been on Jobkeeper since beginning, but had her baby early and is now starting maternity leave on 16th
Paid date will be 18/5, pays are done weekly
No annual leaveThank you for your help0 -
Kris hopefully you find this infomration helpful: https://community.ato.gov.au/t5/COVID-19-response/Job-keeper-application-closing-date-and-PPL/m-p/71593
If employee was on paid Centrelink from the 17th May onward they would not be eligible for JK during FN04 as the 17th is within ATO fortinght 4.
Hope that answers your query?0 -
Thank you, and I rang the tax office today before I saw this post and the answer was as you said, if not eligible for the entire fortnight you can’t get it for 1 week only. So as I won’t be paying anything today can I just lodge a zero pay using the Finish FN03 payroll item?0
-
You will have to put $0.01c in the pay somewhere and minus $0.01c
I usually use the TOPUP item and put $0.01
Then PAYG minus $0.010 -
Thank you so much0
