If you have a PDF printer - e.g. PDF995 - it’s free, you can select that printer and save as a PDF file and email as an attachment, without having to print and scan

Kris you are way off. This is an easy fix. Have you read the copious support notes?

Hi Gerry did you read where I referred to the copious support notes? I could mention it again but I feel it would be redundant. Or reductive. Probably both.

Deb its nothing to do with the default printer. What version of Windows / Outlook are you using?

    Gerry Hi

The most important thing to realize is that Reckon Accounts 2021 folder must have full permissions. Read write access for the reserved Windows user EVERYONE. The second thing is that you need to run Reckon Accounts 2021 as Administrator. Before this though you must install Reckon Accounts 2021 using the built in administrator account. Before this you need to turn on the built in admnistrator account in Windows. I have to say this issue has been around for a very long time (at least 2017-18) It would be nice to have a permanent fix. Also, I installed my first version of Reckon Accounts 2021 last week and it worked first time. I was using Office 2016. Or you could use the webmail option in Preferences and Send forms. It will bypass Outlook. It might not suit everyone especially if you need a read receipt which most of us like to have. Either way.

    Thanks for your question.

My suggestion was simply a quick workaround until you fix it tomorrow

Kris, yeah except its not really fixing it. I hate to be a pedant but theres really only one fix for this. Im a bit surprised its happening with 2021 as I said earlier. Mine worked straight out of the box. I find a few clients still have problems with the home versions of Windoze. I won' have them in my office. Or you can use the webmail.

Kevin yeah, hence the word workaround, for the moment

It might be because my Outlook needs updating, I see my Microsoft 365 is waiting for an update.... may be that? All the Administrator stuff was selected / done etc by the Reckon lady when she was on teamviewer...

Hi Zappy. Well here's an interesting thing; I thought it might be due to the Office 365 annual renewal being due (which by the way I had not seen any reminders for) so I renewed it. I don't know if this is related or not, but after doing that, I then closed all the programmes and was about to shut the PC down and go to bed. Then I just got a feeling to open Reckon again, and see if it would send an invoice - which it did PERFECTLY! But get THIS: it was only then that I noticed that I hadn't even started Outlook up again at that time. So I then opened Outlook and had a look in the sent items, and sure enough there it was. Now I do not understand how it can send an email through my Outlook without it being open. It never used to. Outlook had to be open or else Reckon would pop up error messages when trying to email out. So anyway that's great, at least I can email the invoices now, but the problem is now:

Once I then opened up Outlook, and then into Reckon to email an invoice again - then I found the same problem. So Reckon can email out as long as my Outlook is not open. Why can't it do it when it IS open? Must be something simple....

I really appreciate your help and hope you don't mind persevering with me. I will pay you if you can sort it for me :-)

    thanks

    Deb

Oh as far as I am aware you always need to open Outlook BEFORE you open Reckon. This is in the support notes as far as I know.

Oh great - okay then, do you think if I do that, we will find that Reckon does NOT need to be run in Administrator?
