i was entering payments that i had made and then went into a reconciliation and when i returned all the payments i had entered were not the register balance had changed

You've posted this question in another thread so I've replied on that one also ...
It sounds like your payment dates may have been entered incorrectly so they're not showing in the expected date range.
Do a search for them under Find (under the Edit dropdown menu along top toolbar) by selecting Payment for the Transaction Type filter & using any other known filters eg Amount, Name (eg Customer)
