Sharing Reckon Accounts Enterprise across Sharepoint folder with Multi-User Mode?

Hi There,

We have just moved to Sharepoint and would like to start sharing our Reckon Accounts Enterprise 2022/2023 company file across our Sharepoint site and use that same file in multi-user mode and wondering if someone could please provide us some advice on how to set this up correctly (we're currently just sharing the company file across the local network)?

Thank you in advance for any assistance :).

    Hi @LeesEnvironmental

From what I understand, the Reckon Accounts desktop software is not designed to have its data files simultaneously accessed from a cloud location.

For the scenario you are describing, in which there are multiple users/multiple locations, the Reckon Accounts Hosted service would likely be more suitable option if you need simultaneous access and fits your requirements.

With that said, I'd be interested to hear if other members on the Community have had any experience/success with the setup you're considering.

    Hi Rav,

Thank you for your reply :). We called Reckon Accounts over the phone and they said that there are definitely companies out there who are sharing their Reckon Accounts Enterprise Company Files across Sharepoint, and that those companies are using their Company Files in Multi-User Mode, so if anyone who has had success with this could please point us in the right direction, we would appreciate it?

Thank you in advance for any help :). Lee's Environmental.

reckon desktop is not the same as Reckon Enterprise, and the latter is the desktop version of Hosted

looking back at your post which was under Reckon Desktop, I think maybe you are using Reckon Enterprise, correct?

@Kris_Williams Enterprise is the top desktop version (above Premier) ☺️

The term “Desktop” covers all the downloadable local versions (Accounting, Plus, Premier & Enterprise)

Yes I know Shaz. The post was a bit confusing as it was posted under Reckon Desktop and she was referring to Reckon Enterprise

Enterprise is part of the "desktop" range - Hosted is the only one that's not/separate. It just happens to be the Enterprise version that's "Hosted" (rather than the lower ones) 😊

Hi Everyone, Thank you for all your comments and/or queries :).

Sorry for the miscommunication from our end. We are running Reckon Accounts Enterprise 2022 (the most current version as of 12.06.2023) which is currently installed on our Server computer inside our office and shared across the local area network (LAN), but we are wanting to move the company file into Sharepoint and share that file across the internet in multi-user mode, rather than just across the LAN.

In our tests so far, Sharepoint downloads a copy of the company file to the user's computer and then uses it in single-user mode so that it's not actually being shared in Multi-User mode, so if there's anyone who could please point us in the right direction to get this working correctly, we would appreciate it :).

    Hi @LeesEnvironmental

It sounds like Hosted would be the better option for you - Is there a reason why you want to stay on the desktop version ?

Hosted is exactly the (Enterprise) version you already have so you would simply upload your company file to the Hosted platform & everyone accesses it from there 😁
