Hi. I haven't finalised our EOFY as yet, or imported the 2023 R1 as yet, but need to pay employees today. Can I still run the current payroll updating super to 11% and I am presuming that I don't run the STP do that once I have moved onto the 2023 R1? (sorry think I'm abit out of my depth here!)

    Morning @Glenys

If you're still running 2022 and need to create a pay run today then you can still do that however yes as you've said, you'll need to manually update super and also any other tax changes that are applicable. You can still send the STP submission as normal as well.

When you do upgrade to 2023, the first thing you'll need to do is run the Migration Assistant in order to update your employee and pay item information to STP Phase 2 requirements since the new version only creates pay runs/STP under STP Phase 2. More info on this below -

Thanks Rav, bit confused about tax changes as I can't find 23/24 on ATO website and because I haven't upgraded under my Tax Table Information it says 1 July 2022, so how do I know if I am putting in the right tax or what tax amount to put in?

There have only been slight changes to the tax tables for special categories-

Thanks Kris, I have read through the 'Employer checklist of key changes' and none of them apply to our employees, so I will go with what we have in the system now. Thanks, appreciate the help given today.

    Hi Glenys,

I think the Employer Checklist you've mentioned relates more to the changes coming in with STP Phase 2 rather than any changes with the tax tables for 2023/24.

I'm not a tax agent/accountant so can't advise but as Kris mentioned, there are minimal changes aside from student-based payments.

Our usual recommendation is to finish any outstanding pay runs for the previous 2022/23 financial year along with the EOFY finalisation in the 2022 version. Then upgrade to Reckon Accounts Hosted to update your employee and pay item info for STP Phase 2 prior to your first pay run of the 2023/24 financial year.

If that's an option for you it might make things easier/smoother in terms of the transition.
