I no longer have account codes in Chart of Accounts ? Has there been a change in the upgrade I know physically have to type in say Sub-contractors instead of a code?

This has dropped off for a few people after upgrading @Carol123

You just need to re-enable this again by ticking the checkbox in your Preferences (under the Edit dropdown menu):
