Moving desktop software from one computer to another - is there a fee?

I need to move my desktop copy of the Reckon Home and Business software from the current computer to a new one as the current one is getting wiped by my employer.

I have installed the software on the new computer but it won't authenticate and it's saying I need to call the 1800 number.

I have bad memories of calling the Reckon 1800 number and being asked for a credit card payment before anyone would talk to me.

Does anyone know if this is still the case?

(My use of the software is limited now, and I no longer operate a business that I need records for - I simply want to keep using the software that meets my needs fine, rather than being locked into paying an annual fee to be able to access my data which goes back many years).

    Hi @andrewbr

There are no charges or fees to speak with our customer service team to activate your software. This has always been the case πŸ™‚. The former paid service for technical support (which is separate to subscriptions/activations etc) is no longer offered.

You can either give the team a call for your activation on 1800 732 566 or start an online chat with one of our team members on the Product Activation page linked below -

@Rav I noticed a comment re "sunset provisions" - so not sure what that means and don't want to start an online chat if I will then get told No can't do (which I seriously hope will not be the case).

The version I have is Home and Business 2015, and as mentioned, I no longer am running a business so don't need those features any more, but I still use for personal and tax purposes.

From what I can see re references to sunset provision it seems to suggest that versions other than the current may also have the activation on another computer impacted - which if it is the case would be very disappointing.

Are you able to advise please?

    Thank you.

    Hi @andrewbr

Some software can no longer be activated, however your Home & Business 2015 version can, so the team will be able to assist you in this when you kick off an online chat via the page linked above.

All sorted - thank you for all your help @Rav.

All works on the new computer with no issues so will now delete from the old one.

Made this harder in my head than it needed to be, so very glad for this helpful Community.
