Where can we see an updated payroll STP submission in Reckon Payroll?

STP pay event update not showing the updated pay run figures in STP submissions or in the ATO Portal, only stating that there has been an upgrade?

    Hi Pia

When you send an Update Event ie. to reflect changes to an employee's YTD balances it adjusts employee data only. There is no employer component to those update event submissions which is why it only shows that an entry has been received in the ATO Portal but doesn't show any detail ie. balances/figures.

Employee balances that have been amended via your update event will reflect in their income statement in MyGov.

Please note, this isn't specific to Reckon Payroll and has always been this way with STP.

Thanks Rav, I was thinking it would be the same as the Reckon GovConnect where it would show the updated totals submitted.

Hi Rav, my PAYG figure is not reporting correctly on my BAS in the ATO portal for the month of Sept as it doesn't seem to have update the revised weekly pay I sent to STP. Should this not be adjusted if you update the payrun?

    Hi Pia

Since the start of Single Touch Payroll (STP) in 2018, there are two things sent in a regular STP submission (not an update event); Employer Data as well as Employee Data via STP submissions.

    • Employer Data includes a total gross and total PAYG for the pay run. This data is included so the ATO can prefill the W1 and W2 fields in the BAS which they have now started to do.
    • Employee Data includes the Year to Date (YTD) breakdown of the employee’s pays which is used for completing their Income Statement.

As mentioned in my previous reply, when you go back to correct employee balances via an update event, there is no employer component to that type of submission so all it does is adjust employee YTD balances as discussed above. Therefore it won't have an impact on adjusting any prefill data for BAS.

Your payroll software is what you should lean on as your source of truth so if the BAS prefill isn't matching, then adjust/amend the W1 & W2 prefill amounts in the ATO Portal where needed.

Hopefully that isn't something you need to do often and I'm sure this process will become more streamlined as prefill continues to progress/evolve over time.

I understand what you are saying, it's just that with Payroll Premier when you uploaded and updated STP file you could actually see the updated weekly amount in the ATO. It's trying to get use to the changes with the new Reckon Payroll. Hopefully as you have said it will get better as it progresses.

I have just had the same issue. Thanks for the info. In our case it was the lack of TFN that stopped the info from being sent via STP at the first time of lodgment.
