Upgrade to Reckon Payroll from Payroll Premier

I am just catching up! I haven't be notified of the new upgrades at this stage, so I thought to have a look here to see what's happening. Okay. So now I need to get my act together! I have had a quick squiz at what is needed for the upgrade and my first query is to check that I have things right regarding #3 of the pre-requisites. I have several clients that I only do payroll for but only 3 of them are current. I have been reporting the STP1 since it came into existance, with the clients set up under my contact details which has been working well. I worked with the ATO originally on setting up these clients under my details.

I have another client who's payroll is in his Reckon Hosted account so I 'share' his reporting to me each week. He is set up in the 'shared with me' window. And he is of course already set up with STP2 since he's in Hosted.

My question is, (and I will re-read everything and watch videos that are posted here before I do anything) will I be able to continue with those payroll clients under my set up? Or will I have to go through the process as I did with the client from Hosted?

Looking forward to hearing from someone. Cheers

    Hi Cheryl

When it comes to the upgrade to Reckon Payroll for Payroll Premier, you need to be the owner of the STP entity in GovConnect (as opposed to having shared access).

I think the best thing would be to set up a call with one of our migration specialists so they can take you through the process, checking over the details and getting a booking locked in when you're ready for it. When you've got a chance give our Customer Service team a call on 1800 732 566.

Thank you, Rav. I'll have a read and watch now, then ring the number. I know it will be a whole lot easier with a voice in my ear while I'm doing it.

And that didn't work! I rang that number above and the first person I spoke to passed me onto another man who explained what I had to do. I followed his instructions with one client whose e-mail address I have access to (I would have to do all the setting up anyway!), but when I tried to make a new account, the message came up with 'username already in use'. I also tried with another e-mail address I have that's not used very much with my client's name up top, but that didn't work either. So I have just sent an e-mail to the second man and it has bounced back. I repeated what I was given several times, but it seems I still got it wrong. I need to know how to do this for my other clients who will need to do the connection to Reckon themselves. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can survive this trip?

    Hi Cheryl

I think we're getting a bit too far down the track right now and need to just rewind things a little. When it comes to the current upgrade for Payroll Premier desktop to Reckon Payroll, there is a very specific process which we help you with from start to finish through a specialised team. They'll create a booking for you and take care of the setup and configuration side of things so you don't have to, along with actually migrating your data over.

I've organised one of our Payroll Premier migration specialists to give you a call for a chat and get the ball rolling so lets take it from there.

Thank you, Rav. Yes, I've just been on the phone to a very nice and understandable young man. He has explained a lot so that I now comprehend a whole lot more. I have to say I was sleepless last night trying to figure out the understanding of the new system. I read all that is on the website, but it doesn't actually explain the migrating process. All the good things about the new system are there but since I am already reporting STP2 for other clients within their software, I don't need the sell talk, just the how's and why's!

Waleed has now sent me an e-mail with more details, so I can inhale all of that. We have also set up an appointment for next week, the day after I do pays, for him to talk me through the process. He does speak really quickly as I believe all young folk do these days, but I did get most of what he said and he didn't get impatient with me when he had to repeat himself 3 times! I think he and I will get on really well. I need to get mics and speaker set up on this computer though so that we can talk our way through things.

    Until next time! Cheers, Cheryl
