This pay run can't be finished because it contains at least one inactive employee

After doing the App update as requested this month, when I try to do the STP I now get this message: "This pay run can't be finished because it contains at least one inactive employee"

All employees are listed as Active, and the STP for them reported OK last month.

    Hi @LBS,

    That's a strange one. Have you recently terminated an employee or marked as archived?

    If you could provide further details or possibly screenshots what you changes may have happened before this error, it would be much appreciated.

    No changes from last month, only the App update that I was requested to do when I logged in this month

    We added a new employee in September and successfully uploaded the data to the ATO, and we can see it in their system. Since the App update this month, the September pay run is now showing as a draft - even though it uploaded to the ATO last month.

    Hi @LBS

    Can you please check whether there is a super fund/super item in an archived status. If so, re-enable it and try sending through your submission again.

    Hi Rav,

    I looked at the superannuation and all of the employees that we have been reporting with this software for the last few years, I think they were all "enabled" and had automatically been put on a "default fund" by your software. Is this the problem?

    I tried updating this but one of the funds is not in your system. The ATO have these details already so I can't see the need for Reckon to have them.

    Hi @LBS

    Go into Settings ➡️ Superannuation Funds ➡️ Inactive Funds and just check if there are any funds listed there. Example below.

    If you find any that are inactive in this tab, please re-enable it.


    If there are no inactive super funds, then just do the same for pay items by going to Settings ➡️ Pay Items ➡️ Superannuation

    Confirm that all super items are in an Active status. If there are any that are inactive, re-enable them. Do the same for Earnings items as well.

    Hi Rav,

    Thanks, I had been doing this on the phone App and couldn't see those options. The default fund that the software assigned to the older employees is in the Inactive list, but I can't see how to make it Active again.

    Awesome, glad to hear you found it.

    If you've accessed your account on a PC/browser, then you'll be able to reactivate the superfund by clicking the options button then select the Reactivate option. Example below 👇


    If you're using the mobile app, you can reactivate the inactive fund by going to Settings ➡️ Superannuation Funds ➡️ Inactive Funds ➡️ tap on the super fund and then toggling the Enable item option.

    Thanks Rav,

    The reactivate option wouldn't show on the PC version, but I enabled it again with the phone App.
