How do I view/print a payslip in Reckon Hosted payroll?
I need to check that the HECS is showing separately as I believe this is a requirement?

thanks

    @sandrah As a senior tax consultant myself (since 2003), I can confirm the requirement is for the additional tax to be withheld. There's not actually a requirement to show it separately as specific "HECS tax" doesn't actually exist. It's the result of the employee's annual taxable income being above the HELP Debt income repayment threshold - determined via their tax return at EOFY - that results in compulsory "repayments" via the tax system (eg as "additional tax")

    NOTE: The HECS debt is NOT being repaid throughout the year via this additional tax! If the employee's circumstances result in a taxable income below the repayment threshold, they receive some (or all) of that extra back again (via "tax refund") Instead, it's held until the tax return is lodged, at which point it is reconciled to determine if a compulsory repayment is actually required. If so, it's at this point that it then gets applied to the employee's HECS debt 😬

    I'm trying to post a link below to the Payslip requirements info on the Fair Work website but it's not allowing the link (as it seems to think it's "unsafe" … @Rav ??? πŸ˜–πŸ€£) if you click the link below, it will take you to the detail (confirming there is no mention of separating "HECS" at all):

    https://www.fairwork.gov.au/tools-and-resources/fact-sheets/rights-and-obligations/record-keeping-pay-slips#What-information-must-be-included-on-a-pay-slip

    It appears the ATO "Community" forum is providing incorrect information again πŸ™„πŸ˜« (NOTE: That page is managed by ATO admin/call centre staff who are NOT tax-trained! Therefore I never use the ATO Community as a resource as the information provided there is often wrong) 😀πŸ˜₯" … our out-sourced provider do shows the HECS separately …" What their system has done is just separate the total PAYG tax withheld into 2 amounts - ordinary PAYG & additional PAYG (for HECS)

    Hope that helps clarify 😊

    Hi Tanvi,

    It is only displaying two staff (they don't have any email addresses at the moment) but how do I see others who will have their payslips emailed? If I change the preferences from 'both' to 'direct deposits; it doesn't make any difference, not if I select all.

    I haven’t had to deal with Hecs for a while, but my understanding when I did was that it’s only reflected in the amount of tax deducted but not shown separately or easily identifiable.

    thanks Kris, but the payslips that our out-sourced provider do shows the HECS separately and the ATO state that this is a requirement. I need to look at our 'dummy run' of pay does in fact list the HECS tax separately.

    @Acctd4 Hey Shaz
    Just edited your (awesome) info above, (incredible work as always!) to get that hyperlink working properly. I think it was misbehaving because its an anchor link but should be ok now.
