URGENT Super not calculating on leave in term pay
I am processing a termination pay including this FN pay which has 3hrs personal leave including. The super is not processing on the personal leave and not sure why I have attached showing that super is ticked to calculate, can you help please as I need to process today thanks, Bernadette

Personal leave was already ticked prior to commencement of payrun. Other items are 73hrs ordinary $3,285 1st aid allowance $41.30 & 3hrs personal $135 Total superable $3,461.30 11.5% super $398.05 calc on payrun is $382.52 which is 3285 + 41.30 = 3,326.30 11.5% = $382.52

If I process this pay just to make the payment, as it is a term pay can I still revert to draft once Super is corrected and resend to ATO, I just need to get these payments processed

Yes, so you can set the pay run to draft. And you can even submit the pay to ATO once the super is fixed. Looks like the settings are correct based on the information you provided. We may need to take a look at your book to investigate further. I will send you a provide message to get your details.

I wanted to update you regarding the rates and earnings you've inquired about. After testing the calculations on my end, I can confirm that both the superannuation are being calculated correctly. I have attached an image for your reference.
However, I recommend checking the leave item you used to process the personal leave. If the setup for that item is configured correctly, there shouldn’t be any issues with the calculations.

Hi Reeta, I'm not sure how you got it to work your end and I can't see what pay selections you have made but it is definitely not working for me

I'll upload the payslip for you so you can see, also I have found another problem (not sure what is going on with the payroll at the moment I am finding lots of issues, it's quite worrying). The payslips of the two employee's I terminated yesterday both show negative AL balances?????
Also when you pay a termination pay and include unused annual leave why does it not show as unused annual leave on the payslip so it is easily recognisable. Thanks Bernadette

Hi Rav & Reeta, I just called your support team to help and unfortunately got to speak with a very rude person. They advised me that super does not get deducted from leave payments, I tried to explain that super is not deducted but paid on some leave payments even if part of termination. He said that is not possible. Can SOMEONE please call me that understands the payroll system as I need this sorted. As the termination pay included 3hrs personal leave it should have calculated the 11.5% super payable, in other pays that are not termination payments the super has calculated correctly on personal leave.

I haven't been across this post so I'm just catching up here. Let me just try and understand, you are paying out personal leave in the termination pay for this employee and you want that to calculate super?
To be honest, I don't think I've come across that before but happy to see if its possible or not.
I can see from your opening post that you've got a custom super item you're using and have the option to calculate ticked for personal leave.
Do you have the option to Pay on Termination ticked on the personal leave item as well? Or if not, how are you paying the personal leave out in this termination pay?
Also, have you been able to successfully action this before in Reckon Payroll?
A screenshot of your termination pay similar to that on the left might also be helpful here.

Hi Rav, the confusion might be the way I have explained this. So I will try again. As part of the termination process you get the option to pay any normal pays due also so the personal leave is just part of the normal pay for that fortnight. 76hrs is normal working hours but the employee had 3hrs personal leave as part of that, does that help?

Thanks for clarifying, yes I think I'm following now however I'm not entirely sure if the termination pay run is the place to action this.
If you were to create a separate pay run for this employee for just the 3 hours of personal leave ie. separate to the termination payments, does that cater to your requirement of super calculating on the personal leave?

It probably would but I don't feel that I should have to do all of that, if the payroll system provides the option to include any final pays as part of the termination process it should still correctly calculate super, it has calculated the super on the ordinary time and the superable allowance so why not the personal leave?

Its a good question, and to be honest I'm not sure of the answer at this stage. I'll ask the product team and see if I can get any insight around it.
Please note though, if any changes are required in this area it will likely take a little bit of time to implement so if you're in need of completing this termination pay urgently then I'd suggest considering running a separate pay run for that personal leave so it doesn't hold you up.

The product team have advised that as soon as leave is included in a termination pay, it is treated as part of a termination and hence reported to the ATO as unpaid leave or a Lump Sum value.
So its recommended that is actioned in a separate pay run and once completed, perform the termination and run through the termination pay for outstanding entitlements.
The aspect of super not calculating is still unclear though as the impression is termination pay reporting requirements shouldn't have an impact on that so that's so that's something we'll look into.

Hi Rav, I have already paid the termination pay so I really need an option to correct it, perhaps I just turn the termination pay to draft, delete the personal pay and just pay 76hr normal then re submit to ATO, $ won't change but hopefully the super will correct itself?

I'd suggest the following process 👇
- Delete the existing termination pay you've processed.
- Remove the termination date in the employee profile so the employee becomes active.
- Create the separate pay run for the 3 hours of personal leave + super and mark it as paid. You don't need to send the STP submission for this as it'll be covered in the next step.
- Terminate the employee again and create a new termination pay run and send the STP submission for the new termination. The full Year to Date balances will be updated upon this submission.

Yes it was still happening even after logout and login again, then I used incognito browser all good. Logged out and logged in normally, I don't know what's going on it's very frustrating, but thanks
