can i change the account that sales receipts are allocated to? ie they automatically are put to Undeposited Funds - an current asset account. But I have an undeposited funds Bank account and I want the sales receipts to go there to be offset with payments made from cash before being deposited in the bank. If not can i somehow process payments made from the sales receipt from the Undeposited Funds Current Asset account?

Hi Therese,
It's always a good idea to check your data file preference settings as they control the default behaviour of the program.
The Help system built-in to the program is also a good place to check on how to set things up.
Click on the Help Menu and select QuickBooks Help
If you used the search keywords undeposited funds you will see a series of helpful articles such as
* Using the Undeposited Funds account
Anyway here's the answer that should help you out.
Click on the Edit menu and select Preferences
Go to the Sales and Customers section
Click the Company Preferences tab
Go to the Receive Payments sections and choose whether or not you want to Use Undeposited Funds as a default deposit to account
