TFN Declaration

I just want to confirm, if I select "Lodge TFN declaration via Reckon GovConnect" in an employees file does that now mean I won't have to mail paper copies of the TFN declaration to the ATO?  If so should I go back and select the declaration for existing employees who I have already sent a paper form as well?

Thanks for your help :D

    Hi Rav,

I search the community discussion but the responses are not clear. Appreciate if you could respond to the 2 questions below.

    1. If I've already sent (via snail mail) an employee TFN Decl form to ATO (prior to using Reckon One Medium Pack), do I still need to TICK "Lodge TFN Declaration via Reckon" against that employee OR just leave it UNTICK?
    2. Once I've sent the TFN Decl via Reckon One, going forward, do I UNTICK the "Lodge TFN Declaration via Reckon" against that same employee from the next pay run onwards?

    Hi @kenl90

Has your employee already been issued their TFN via the mailed-in application from Q1 above?

Not sure if I understand your question. Prior to using Reckon One Medium Pack to use the online TFN Declaration, I've been sending the TFN forms to ATO. So, Question 1 is really about, should I tick "Lodge TFN Declaration via Reckon" again?

I would have thought that was for new employees instead of lodging paper forms

Actually Rav I thought it was for lodgement of the declaration form that we used to send to ATO, not for applying for a TFN on behalf of an employee. I need to clarify that for my own knowledge

Sorry yes you're correct. I worded that very poorly. Will edit.

I'm sorry I'm not following both @Kris and @Rav. All the employees I hire already have a TFN, so I don't understand what you mean. When I hire a new staff, I've to submit the TFN Declaration form to the ATO. Been doing this for years via paper form. So all good...

Now that I'm using Reckon One to submit this online, I just tick, "Lodge TFN Declaration via Reckon" against the new employee. All Good. I've already done that for a new staff and I can see the result from GovConnect.

Going forward, for the next pay run, do I keep the the "Lodge TFN Declaration via Reckon" TICK or UNTICK?

    my 2nd question

Do I TICK all the other employees (whom I've already send the TFN Declaration form before) to resubmit them electronically.

My understanding is, if you have already lodged employees’ TFN declaration by paper, then you don’t have to do anything in Reckon. But if you get a new employee you will not have to send the paper form in and this is when you would Lodge via Reckon. I imagine you will only do it once.

‘where is this Lodge section you are referring to?

    This is exactly correct @Kris_Williams

Do I TICK all the other employees (whom I've already send the TFN Declaration form before) to resubmit them electronically.

@kenl90 to answer your 2nd question above, no you do not need to resubmit them again.

    Thanks everyone.

@Kris_Williams - you can find the lodge section in Payroll/Employees menu; select an employee and click the "Tax" tab

I am using Reckon Accounts Hosted and need to enter new employees.

Can someone please explain how I get the tax declaration form lodged .

I know it says lodge via ReckonGovConnect.

So once I enter the tax file number and tick the box lodge TFN via ReckonGovConnect, is that all I do

does that it mean it goes automatically to the ATO.

Yes, that’s all you need to do - The declaration checkbox is linked to STP so will flow through automatically ☺️
