hi,  I run payroll for employees with the same pay rate for 2 different employee. for employee 1, it withheld correctly  compared with the monthly ato table(employee started in Nov-14). employee 2, payg withheld is higher(she started in Jul14). both dont have hecs and tax free threshold. my tax table version is 1/7/14.i checked under payroll taxes boxes and both are identical. Is there anything else i need to check? why would the payg w/held amount differ?

OK; sometimes it will hold a different amount for whatever reason. Go into the payroll and redo it, putting in zero hours first then go back and put in correct hours and see what happens to the PAYG. If all else fails just override it

Is that year to date pays; if you pick up a PAYG report and filter by name then you should be able to pick up where it happened

Just a thought . have either of the employees been paid leave loading. I think it is the first $320 that is tax free. Probably not the reason but just another one to eliminate.

Kathy; pretty certain that the $320 tax free amount does not apply anymore
