I am new here,,,,so this is my first post.....excuse me if I stuff up in any way.

We have 2 share portfolios...1 for my wife and one for myself.... have been operational since the year 2000 using Reckon all these years

More recently we changed to Self Wealth for our share trading. Previously all trading and dividends was through the NAB...it is now ANZ. I successfully opened a new bank account in Quicken for my wife but cannot do so for myself. I have sought help through the support line....but without being critical.....have not been able to achieve sucess.

I believe if I could set up 2 bank accounts for my wife I should be able to do so for myself

Help!!!!!!

It seems such a simple request…but am told by reckon technical people what has been set up cannot be reversed without losing one of the bank accounts.

    Hi @David_57

Do you have just one data file (QDF) or do you have a separate file for you and one for your wife?

You stated "I successfully opened a new bank account in Quicken for my wife but cannot do so for myself."

What is actually preventing you from creating a new bank account in the data file?

Is there any specific error message or warning message you are encountering?

Can you provide a step-by-step walkthrough of the steps you are performing when you are attempting to create a new bank account along with what exact error messages you encounter, so that we can attempt to replicate it in exactly the same way (just so that we are not guessing as to what exactly you are doing).

Provide some screenshots where possible (blur out any personally identifiable info for privacy).

There are two files completely independant from each other….both files are similar in that they are used to record the share transactions of myself and independantly the share transactions of my wife.

For over 10 years when dealing with the same provider of trading shares there was never any issues. Recording buys, sells, dividends, was with the Nat Bank out of the same account for me and with a separate account in the other file for my wife. Transfers to and from a Cash management account and to an account for living expenses were all easily recorded.

The problem arose when i transferred to Self Wealth for share trading. This introduced a new ANZ account to record share transactions. For my wife straight forward…when nominating the account to show a transaction…simple…ANZ. For myself…no option available…it is fixed and cannot change the bank account.

My issue was taken up by Rohit Saxena a member of the Reckons Technical help Dept. He has spent I don't know how many hours himself…but at least 4 to 5 hours with me on the phone on at least 4 occasions and with him having taken remote control of my computer.

My ignorance now comes to the fore…it appears when setting up my wifes account I ticked box( s) differently to how I ticked the same box(s) when setting up my own account. When Rohit Saxena of Technical Support ticked a different box in my account I could immediately then choose to have the ANZ account be nominated as the bank account in a share transaction…but then immediately the existing NAB account just disappeared off the asset list. It does not make sense. Rohit at Technical Help maintains the issue cannot be undone.

I have to say I find that difficult to accept as it appears to my untrained eye such a simple thing..which I am sure others must have confronted many times in the past. I wish those of you who are knowledgable out there in computer land who would like to take up this as a challenge would do so. Please make contact with Rohit.Saxena@reckon.com to better explain this issue…he is fully familiar and is a nice guy who I am sure would co-operate in explaining clearly what the issue is… and why it cannot be fixed ….something which is beyond my 83 years.

I trust there is nothing in this statement which can offend
