RA2016 Performance issues after upgrade from previous RA

I have had a couple of clients with performance issues after upgrading RA Desktop products from previous versions. In some cases I have found the database services from previous versions are still running.
I have found it helpful to remove all previous Reckon products, then install new product
1. Carry out usual pre-upgrade procedures. Backup, print trial balance, verify, re-build etc
2. Control Panel - Uninstall ALL Reckon products.
3. In the Printers folder, remove any Reckon or QB PDF creation printers and ports. This is because the un-install in step 2 does not remove them
4. Reboot the computer
5. Temporarily disable anti-virus products
6. Install new Reckon 2016 product. Do not open Reckon yet !
7. Install tax update. Then can open Reckon.
8. Open company file and allow Reckon to upgrade the file to new version
9. Activate Reckon licence
10. Rebuild company file (Reckon suggests 3 times)
11. Enable Anti-Virus software

Great post Steve,
Just one thing I thought I'd raise about the process which you may want to edit in your post is regarding the flow from point 6 to 7.
Regarding Point 7.
A tax table update can only be applied to an activated Reckon installation. To activate, you must have a Company file opened.

Agreed Rav. It becomes a bit cumbersome because the company file needs to be updated at least twice...especially cumbersome if the company file is large
So perhaps.......
Install RA2016
Open SAMPLE company file
Activate
Reboot computer (required before tax update)
Install tax update
Open company file, allow file to upgradeSo a couple of comments for developers:
1. Uninstall does not remove PDF creation printers and ports. It should !
2. If RA could be activated without opening a company file, then no reboot is necessary, the process becomes:
Install RA2016
Activate
Install tax update
Open company file
Allow RA to upgrade company file1
