Back-up taking a long time
Has anyone else had issues with your back-up taking up to 1-1.5 hours to run? Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi Rochelle
Do you usually perform regular maintenance on your company file? How large is your file?
There's a number of steps that you could look at doing (regularly) that will help you get the best performance out of your file and I'll link some resources below -

Thank you
No we don't do anything except backing up. I know when I went to run a varication it failed. I know we need to get on top of this asap. I have called tech support and they advised to run the rebuild x 3

Hi @Rochelle
How often do you create a backup?
When you do create a backup, do you enable the 'complete verification' option?
If NO, then it means your file has not been going through a file verification and this can result in the companion file called a TLG from continuing to grow and grow.
If your QBW is large, then it can take a while to go through the verification and backup process.
If you have a large QBW and your TLG is also large, then the backup process can take longer also.
Review this support article.
If need, you can get assistance over the phone with the Hosted Technical Support Team.
It is recommended that that the person who is the designated Admin user, who is responsible for file maintenance tasks regularly create a backup that has undergone a verification, as the backup you create can be very useful in the event of an unforeseen data corruption event.

@Datarec_ReckonLtd Thank you
My answer is yes we are not running a varication and understand now that the file is just keeping on growing. I have passed this on to management for further instructions.
Thanks again

HI @Rochelle
Just before you or the person who will be creating a backup does it, can you get confirmation of the QBW file size and the TLG file size for comparison.
Also consider the following:
1) First make a copy of the QBW file and save that copy on your Hosted Q:\ and give it a slightly different name so that it does not confuse any other users.
Example: Add a prefix "COPY ONLY BEFORE BACKUP - My Company Name.QBW"
2) Create a backup with the complete verification option enabled to confirm whether this is able to go through successfully or if it detects a problem and does not create the backup
OR
manually perform the Verify Data operation and if an error is detected, do the Rebuild Data also
3) If the backup is successful, check to see whether the TLG file has reset back down to a very tiny size of around 192 KB.

I have just checked and this are the size of the files that I'm dealing with 😬
If we don't feel confident to fix all this, is there someone that you could recommend that offer a service to have it all fix and running correct for us?

Hi @Rochelle
The Hosted Technical Support Team can assist you.
Or you can also get assistance from a Reckon Partner who is experienced in the Reckon Accounts Hosted platform.
The size of your TLG file is quite small compared to the QBW file size, indicating that the TLG file size is not a significant contributor to the time it may take for a backup to be performed and completed.
Recommend that you:
- Acquire a single-user Reckon Accounts Enterprise desktop licence which comes with your Hosted subscription. https://community.reckon.com/discussion/6657543/how-to-request-an-offline-desktop-licence-key-single-user-for-reckon-accounts-hosted-enterprise
- Download the Reckon Accounts Enterprise installer and download the Tax Table update. https://www.reckon.com/au/support/downloads-guides/
- Install that single-user Reckon Accounts Enterprise software on one of your computers.
- Then install the Tax Table update on the same computer.
- From the Hosted platform, download a copy of your QBW file.
- On the desktop installation of Reckon Accounts Enterprise, open that QBW and perform a backup.
- Compare the time it takes on your desktop installation of Reckon Accounts Enterprise to create that backup that includes 'complete verification'.
Note: Contact the Customer Service Team regarding Step 1 and if needed, contact the Technical Support Team regarding Step 2 to 7.
