    Hi Tam

There are no changes to the standard tax tables, only thresholds relating to some of the others like HELP debts etc.

However, the Super rate has now increased from 10.5% > 11%. This is updated automatically after upgrading to 2023 so if you've not yet upgraded, you will need to manually change this rate in your file..

why cant Reckon put this kind of info on their software area in the member log in.

The new upgrade even prompts you to ensure you have the latest tax table, how are we supposed to know if we are using the correct version if Reckon dont tell us what the latest version is?

Normally it is in the guideline notes but I couldn't find anything there?

I have asked for an extension to start reporting STP2 because after paying to watch a webinar about the new ATO requirements I am none the wiser and I dont have time ATM to work through it.

Are you saying that when the STP2 interview is done that is when the tax update occurs? I need to process a pay run and yes I did finalise year end STP1 before I upgraded to 2023, guess I will find out when I run the pay.

This is all very messy and typical of Reckon Accounts.

    Hi Tilley

The annual upgrade (or subsequent patch) always incorporates the new FY tax tables every year. The 2023 update also includes a prompt asking to auto update the super rate for you. The new HECS thresholds are also automatic in the upgrade.

Note the new 2023 version is ONLY compatible with the new STP2 formatting though so you won’t be able to lodge your STP submissions in it without doing the STP2 migration first.

I think users feel overwhelmed at the idea of the STP2 Migration because of the volume of “Help” info (which makes it seem like it must be complicated) but I can promise you it’s a very quick & easy process ☺️ Reckon have put a lot of work into automating it as much as possible.

Feel free to contact me directly if you feel you need one-on-one help.

    Hi,Shaz,

    thanks for quick reply!

In the last few years the new versions have been released much earlier and then a subsequent patch around EOY.

Are you serious about the STP2 reporting? I've only just upgraded, and I have a pay run due tomorrow.

I watched the webinar and it talked about setting up extra accounts and items before (and they did empathise the before) I even attempt to run the STP 2 migration. I recently had Reckon accounts freeze on me and lost data. Not invoicing or bills but code like GST, NCG etc. We run a 5 user system and I have had to work in my own time after work hours to do this. So I applied to the ATO for an time extension to the BAS to allow me time check all our entries and they offered to grant me an extension for the STP2 at the same time. I thought that would give me the breathing time I needed to work through the webinar or see if there are any videos etc.

I'm so glad I did my year final export in the 2022 version.

So I can't run the payroll without the migration? or I can't report the STP? not even as STP1?

Again not enough info from Reckon and too little time frame to comfortable to be to install 2023 Reckon accounts and then set up the accounts etc to do the migration. They issue it late, then there was a bug?

Can I start and stop/pause the migration and go back to it or is it a one off thing? what happens if I get it wrong? Does it need to be run in single user?

I paid money for the webinar which I thought would give exact instructions but instead it just sprouted off what ATO needed and how this might be that in our Company file and talked about other complicated stuff like integrated employees etc.

My accountant doesn't rate Reckon Accounts and at times I don't blame her, so it no good asking her for help.

Guess I will find out tomorrow when I do the pay run what will happen.

PS I didnt get any prompt "The 2023 update also includes a prompt asking to auto update the super rate for you. The new HECS thresholds are also automatic in the upgrade, or does this only occur when you run the pay run? Again no obvious mention of this in the upgrade guidelines.

    Any input would be appreciated.

I will be contacting Reckon on Monday.

I have to say this is such an odd post. The act of upgrading for the new tax tables is not a new phenomenon. Combine that with the takeover of STP Phase 2 which has been known for months, if not years, none of this should come as a surprise.

As harsh as it sounds, you're just behind the curve I'm sorry to say.

There's been ample information around this from both Reckon and the ATO over a while, but I guess some just need it spoon fed. Look at this very forum site, it's plastered everywhere.

"Paid for the webinar, but all it talked about was complicated stuff" pretty much sums this up.

    Hi @Tilley

I'm sorry to hear you've found information around upgrading and STP Phase 2 lacking. We've done quite a bit around ensuring the transition to the 2023 edition and STP Phase 2 is as smooth as possible including both from a software and support perspective.

To that end, we've been pretty open and communicative around our approach to STP Phase 2 and how its implemented in our various software but I know there's a fair bit to get accustomed to.

I'd highly recommend taking a look at the Frequently Asked Questions announcement that I'll link below as it contains a lot of answers including some of the questions in your reply above.

If you have any specific questions that haven't been answered already by Shaz or the FAQ, please let us know.

    Eric,

you are missing my point here and you are being harsh and un helpful. Maybe you should say nothing if you have nothing positive to input.

I know how to upgrade Reckon and upgrade the tax tables etc, but in previous years this has been a separate patch when the upgraded 2023 advises you to ensure you have the latest tax tables , you expect to either find them on the member software page or at least there should be something about them in the reckon upgrade guidelines. How do I know which is the current tax table that I should be using when there is no mention of it in Reckons member page etc. You are right there is heaps on the community help site but nothing specific.

Reckon have dragged their feet in regard to the STP2 as you so rightly pointed out we have all known about it for 2 years and I have been following it, I even attended a webinar about it recently when I had no info from Reckon, this was a little vague as they too were unaware of the final Reckon solution. Reckon except to advise when the upgrade was due, and even that was delayed. Reckon should have released this version with the migration much sooner than a month ago.

Maybe it's not as complicated as the webinar made it out to be but with a bug in the 2023 upgrade only being fixed a couple of weeks before the EOY, that didn't leave enough time for a multi-user to find the time to read through the pages and pages on this subject. This was the point of my comments .

I don't need it spoon feed as you so wrongly pointed out, I just needed time and clarification.

So much conflicting stuff on the Reckon page. Like Ensure last pay run & end of year pay roll before you upgrade? for me that was 29th July, so that left 7 days in the migration right.

Then they say you don't need to stress about STP2 as they have an extension in place until Sept 23. Next I read that once you have upgraded you must do the migration or you cannot report the STP, there is no mention of this in their documents etc.

    Rav,

can you tell me the current tax table , so I can check.

Can you tell me if I can report the next pay run using upgrade but with-out having done the migration?

I will call the ATO to ask what happens if I dont get the STP report in for the next couple of pays, until I get it sorted? These are the kind of answers I am seeking.

Next can you tell me if I can pause the migration, ie can i go back into it? We have mult-users here and it is hard to get the system to myself. Can you do the migration again if you get wrong and will it corrupt your data etc.

Lastly why tell me why Reckon have advised that I have till sept 23 to get the STP2 finalised when others are saying I must do it now before my next pay run.

    Appreciate any feed back.

The only changes to the tax table are for specific people, student loans etc. You can continue with the tax rates in the latest version if they are all on standard tax scales. You can submit STP if you haven’t done the migration wizard, and you can come back to it until step 2 - completion.

it is recommended to finalise 2022, upgrade to 2023 and migrate, however not mandatory. I balanced the wages, exported the file to Gov Connect and checked the totals were correct, but I didn’t submit the file until the bank reconciliation is done. I then continued on using 2023 and STP 2

actually I just read Shaz’s reply and I was wrong about submitting STP from 2023, you have to migrate before you submit, but you have already done EOFY. THE migration wizard is very quick and straightforward, and Shaz offered a phone call if you have any questions

    @Tilley

Please don’t feel overwhelmed by the whole STP2 thing - I have done a number of them & as I mentioned previously, it was very quick & easy … The quickest was in under 30 seconds & the slowest was maybe around 5 minutes ! Most of the migrations were with clients present & they were extremely surprised that after all the hype making it look so complicated, “that was it” ☺️

Also, after the STP2 migration, there is NO CHANGE TO HOW YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN DOING PAYROLL & STP. There are NO new steps or processes, NO new fields or things you need to enter, NOTHING changes from what you’ve been doing previously.

Again, please contact me direct if you need specific guidance. I’m flat out at the moment with clients - what with STP2, EOFY & tax season - so may not be able to answer a phone call, but if you shoot me an email, I WILL get back to you ASAP ☺️

    Thanks so much.

I did the payroll with minimal changes as I had no overtime just normal hours. The super did prompt me when i went to do the pay run and it forced me to add a few things and reported STP. I noticed that some things did'nt go through but the rest were correct. breathing easier now. I will read through the notes etc and tackle it after when I can.

    appreciate your offer of help.

I will contact you direct if thats ok?
